Coyote Hills Regional Park
in the East Bay, just off the eastern end of the Dumbarton Bridge features beautiful rolling hills, marshes and views of the salt evaporation ponds that line this edge of San Francisco Bay. Though the hills are already starting to turn brown, there is still plenty of color in the reeds, marsh grasses and wildflowers. I visited with Marianne and we both marveled at this great park so close to home that we had never visited !
Tthe park is teeming with birds and other wildlife. In addition to many varieties of birds, we saw a weasel (which Marianne managed to photograph while I was fiddling with my buttons and knobs) and a rabbit (I captured his fuzzy butt as he dashed away - I'm much better at photographing things that don't move...).

East Bay Regional Park PD car, a Ford Police Interceptor, responding to a Code-3 call on Park Street in Alameda, CA. Just what that call was, or why an EBRP car is responding to it, I have no idea... I'm assuming that this car is normally assigned to Robert Crown Beach Regional Park, (also in Alameda) which it is headed away from. Taken by a Nikon D40x at ISO 400 with a Nikon 18-55mm non-VR kit lens (at 40)
Sunol Regional Wilderness: Reflecting on tranquility

As it was a gorgeous sunny Saturday here in pleasant Pleasanton, we went for a hike at the Sunol Regional Wilderness. As we enjoyed the park I gave my new D5000 a hiking test-drive. It performed beautifully and combined with the 18-200 lens is perfect for hiking photography. All of these shots are straight from the camera (a couple have been cropped but that's it). My new toy gets a big thumbs up from me! :)
