Who should I use as a reference on my application for employment?
Should I use some of my teachers or the lady who organized my community service?? The reference cannot be a relative and they must have been accquainted with me for over a year. And once I have chosen a reference, should I notify them and let them know I listed them?

ALWAYS ask if you can use someone as a reference BEFORE you list them. If they aren't prepared, they may not be ready for the phone call.
Check with the person who organized your community service first. They are probably used to getting these kinds of calls and know what to expect. If you can't get in touch with her, then talk to your teachers.
